Samenvatting

This article will provide the reader with a sketch of Colin E. Gunton’s Christology and intends to demonstrate the value of his thoughts on this topic. Gunton’s ongoing appeal against an ontological dualism is one of the main characteristics of his Christological enterprise. In his Christology, the ‘from above’ and ‘from below’ -eternity and time-are interwoven. The incarnation, therefore, is not an intervention out of the blue. The Old Testament provides the logic of Christology. After discussing some of these elements within Gunton’s ontology and epistemology, we turn to the pneumatological aspects. From Gunton's perspective, Christology centres on the logic of divine love.
