Abstract

Samenvatting

Door de arbeidsmarkt vanuit het perspectief van vaardigheden te bestuderen kunnen we beter begrijpen hoe de vraag naar arbeid verandert onder invloed van bijvoorbeeld nieuwe technologieën, en hoe het onderwijs hierop in moet spelen om gediplomeerden te voorzien van wat zij nodig hebben in hun toekomstige banen. Ik bespreek objectieve en subjectieve manieren om vaardigheden te meten en laat zien dat deze op beroepsniveau tot vergelijkbare uitkomsten leiden. Ik laat verder zien dat de werkgelegenheid de laatste 25 jaar sterk gegroeid is in beroepen die hoog scoren op probleemoplossend vermogen en interpersoonlijke vaardigheden. Aan de hand van een tweetal voorbeelden laat ik zien hoe methodes van tekstanalyse gebruikt kunnen worden voor het meten van de vraag naar en het aanbod van vaardigheden. Ten slotte bespreek ik de voor- en nadelen van tekstanalysetechnieken om vaardigheden te meten en aandachtspunten voor vervolgonderzoek.
