Abstract

Samenvatting

Kan job crafting de positieve relatie tussen gepercipieerde overkwalificatie en werkverveling remediëren? Op basis van het Job Demands-Resources model onderzochten we of werknemers die zich overgekwalificeerd voelen, meer werkverveling ervaren en of job crafting strategieën de relatie tussen overkwalificatie en werkverveling modereren. Deze assumpties zijn getest in een cross-sectionele studie met 144 werknemers. Zoals verwacht zijn overgekwalificeerde medewerkers sneller verveeld, maar kan job crafting, gericht op het verhogen van structurele hulpbronnen (bijv. autonomie, taakvariatie, ontplooiingskansen), deze relatie afzwakken. De andere job crafting strategieën modereerden de positieve relatie tussen overkwalificatie en werkverveling niet. Op basis van deze studiebevindingen zou men werkgevers kunnen adviseren om job crafting gericht op structurele hulpbronnen te stimuleren. Deze strategie is vooral bij hoog gekwalificeerde medewerkers zinvol en kan zo organisaties helpen om het potentieel van hun toptalent ten volle te benutten.
