Samenvatting
Abstract
This is a critical review of Philippe Meirieu’s Frankenstein pédagogue, originally published in 1996, and for the first time translated in Dutch in 2021. After an extended summary it is argued that Meirieu’s analysis of the relation between adults and children has consequences that seriously reach beyond the domain of upbringing and education. One of these consequences concerns the nature of the behavioral sciences. Just like pedagogy, all of these sciences imply a normative praxis, despite the fact that many behavioral scientists implicitly tend to ignore this implication within their own discipline.
