Viele kennen den Gießener Theologieprofessor Johann Jakob Rambach nur wegen seines theologisch vorzüglichen, bis heute gesungenen, Taufliedes „Ich bin getauft auf deinen Namen, Gott Vater, Sohn und Heiligen Geist“. Doch der früh verstorbene, fleißig publizierende Theologe hatte in Hymnologie, Dogmatik, Ethik und Spiritualität mehr zu bieten, so hat der Rambach-Kongress in Gießen 2018 gezeigt. Der vorliegende Tagungsband ermutigt sehr wohl will zu weiteren Forschungen über das nachhaltige Lebenswerk Rambachs.

Summary

Many people only know the Giessen theology professor Johann Jakob Rambach because of his theologically excellent baptismal song ‘I was baptised in your name, God Father, Son and Holy Spirit’ which is still being sung. However, this prolific theologian who died relatively early has more to offer in the areas of hymnology, dogmatics, ethics and spirituality, as the Rambach Congress in Gießen 2018 showed. This conference volume certainly encourages further research into Rambach's lasting work.

Beaucoup ne connaissent Johann Jakob Rambach, professeur de théologie à Giessen, que pour son cantique sur le baptême « J’ai été baptisé en ton nom, Dieu Père, Fils et Saint-Esprit ». Irréprochable d’un point de vue théologique, cet hymne est encore chanté aujourd’hui. Mais ce théologien prolifique, prématurément disparu, a bien davantage à offrir dans les domaines de l’hymnologie, la dogmatique, l’éthique et la spiritualité comme le Congrès Rambach à Giessen en 2018 l’a montré. L’ouvrage issu de cette conférence ne peut qu’encourager vivement d’autres recherches sur le travail solide de Rambach.
